Is this possibe with the Active Directory security support

    Hi Tom,
            Some couple of questiosn here.
We have some AD users and what we want to achieve is when a user logs on using his username and password from active directory we want to be able to control the survey they can see or they can take.
I tried creating a normal user with a username and passowrd NOT AD  and i have give it only the Survey Take role but when he logs in he gets to see nothing.
How can we manage users to see differetn Surveys?

** Also i have created an AD Panel connector but i can't see any users

    Hi Patrick,

you have to assign the surveys to the users as well. This can be done from the user management page, there select the user you want to manage. It will show up the page with username, roles etc ... There you will also see a screen with the folders and surveys in a tree. You can check the survey to give access to the user and the click on the update button. This will give access to the user to the checked surveys and folders.

    Thanks,
    Tom

     Tom,
          Let me explain myself again.
I have added a panel setting with a panel connector setting which means using the Active directory domain.
I can see all the users imported from AD when i go to Panellists > Panel members which attributes firstname, lastname, display name and email and panellistid.

What i want to do if its possible is can i map a user to a active directory security group?
So that when a user logs to the system he or she is directed to the appropriate survey using their AD username and password.
    Is this achievable?

I tried testing the FORM SECURITY with active directory protection but when i get to the page and it requests my AD username and password i can't get to login to my test survey i created.
Do i need to set any settings for this to work?

    Thanks

    Hi Patrick,

if you want to display the survey assigned to an AD users you can only do so by giving him access to the admin section and setting his roles to the default "survey taker" role and you have to run your admin section under the AD user provider. Its unfortunately not possible to show a list of surveys outside the admin section or using form authentication for the admin section.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Thanks for the reply.
But you didn't answer my question about how to use the active directory protection.
When i set a survey to use this and i get prompted with a forms auth asking for an AD username and password.
When i try to login with my AD credentials i can't login.

Re: Is this possibe with the Active Directory security support

if you're using standard authentication within FS (the one out of the box) and want to add an Active Directory security addin to your survey which validates the user you will need to setup the web.config AD settings :

    adController="yourdomaincontroller" adUserName="adAdministrator" adPassword="yourpassword" adDomain="yourdomain"

Once you have setup your controler you will be able to log into the domain by using username@yourdomain.com Note that the user has to be available in the PDC you specifiy in the web.config.

    Thanks,
    Tom
